Car-Buying 101: Post-Sale Expenses
You already know that MATS is transparent about pricing. There are no hidden fees. You pay for the price of the car, a $99 documentation fee, and that’s it! We can offer you a delivery quote but that’s optional.
Buying a car is exciting, but the costs don’t stop once you take delivery. Let’s talk about the key expenses you should expect after purchasing your new vehicle.
First up, car insurance.
This is mandatory in most places and can vary depending on your driving history, the car’s make and model, and your location. Be ready to budget for this monthly or annually.
Second, don’t forget about taxes and registration fees.
When you buy a car, you’ll need to cover sales tax and get your vehicle registered. If you pick up or live in Indiana, we will collect your state taxes at the time of delivery. But if you’re taking delivery of your car in another state, you’ll want to be sure to budget for those taxes, which you’ll pay when you register the car at your local BMV.
Maintenance is another ongoing cost.
Oil changes, tire rotations, and unexpected repairs can sneak up on you. It’s a good idea to set aside money for routine care and emergencies.
Finally, and this one seems obvious…
But don’t forget about fuel, especially with fluctuating gas prices. Whether it’s gas or charging for an electric vehicle, make sure to factor this into your budget.
Owning a car is a commitment beyond the sticker price. Plan for insurance, taxes, maintenance, and fuel so you can enjoy the ride without surprises. Happy driving!
