We have some exciting news we’re eager to share with you. Beginning May 1st we welcomed Sara Trombley as the new President of MATS. She will be leading the company, alongside Amy Warner, our Director of Purchasing. Josh Nottingham, who has served as President for nearly 20 years, will remain involved as Owner of MATS.

A New Era: interview with Josh Nottingham

What have you loved about working at MATS?

A lot of things! But a few stand out: the flexibility in my schedule this job provides, the really great people that I have worked with over the years, especially the team we have in place now, and working with so many great clients over the years.

What are you going to be focusing on next?

I’ll still be involved with MATS to some degree, but not running the day to day operations. I’ll be transitioning to a larger role in the real estate development company that my brothers and I own.

What are you looking forward to outside of work in your personal life?

Travel! I’m a travel junky and am very much looking forward to lots of adventures in the coming years. This year I’m going with one son to Europe for 2 weeks, and with another son on a journey to all 30 Major League Baseball stadiums in one summer!!

What’s something you’re proud of from the past 20 years with MATS?

I think more than anything I’m so proud of the growth I’ve seen in our staff team. We have a great team and many of them have been with MATS for over a decade. Our staff have grown and been promoted to more and more responsibilities over the years I’ve been here. I’m hopeful that my legacy at MATS is giving people a path to rewarding, challenging, fulfilling (albeit difficult!) careers that provide for them and their families while giving them the flexibility to enjoy significant time with their families.

What’s one thing you’re excited to see MATS excel at under Sara’s leadership?

Having known Sara for 25 years, I am completely confident in her ability to succeed in any path she chooses in life, and leading at MATS is no different. She’ll be great at so many things here, but the biggest thing I’m excited to see is how she will adapt her leadership skills as she navigates a non-ministry environment. She’s been phenomenally successful in her 20 years in ministry, and I’m excited to see her learn how to take what she’s learned and apply it in a different context. I’ve told her for many years that I don’t view leadership as one of my core strengths, but that I do think it is for Sara. Our staff team will benefit tremendously from that in a way that they didn’t from me. So I know that MATS is going to be in great hands under Sara’s leadership.

Amy has been at MATS for almost 15 years, and recently took over for you as Director of Purchasing. Why was Amy the right choice for that role?

Amy has shown more growth in skill and commitment than anyone I’ve ever seen in my almost 20 years at MATS. Buying cars in today’s used car environment is much more challenging than it was just a few years ago, and Amy has shown tremendous growth in learning the ins and outs of buying cars differently than we used to as an organization. I’m excited to see how she’ll grow and adjust in the future with how car buying changes through the years!
