In Need of a Vehicle by Summer? Buying Now vs. Waiting

Need a car for summer, but not sure if you should buy now or wait? Here are a few things you’ll want to consider…

1. Prices are lower now than they will be in summer. If you’re financially ready, you could save thousands of dollars by buying early.

2. Demand for most vehicles is currently lower than it will be in the spring/summer. Not only will you save money by buying now, but MATS is more likely to find what you’re looking for now rather than later.

3. Supply will be more limited this summer, especially on things like mini-vans and passenger vans.

4. If you choose to buy now, you don’t have to insure your vehicle until you need to drive it, also helping you save cash. In addition, you only have to pay for half of your vehicle now, the rest of the payment will happen on delivery when you return!

5. Especially for folks traveling the states only for the summer – like missionaries on furlough – you can reserve your mental energy for other things (like housing), and remove buying a vehicle from your mental load early.
